Here are a few statistics on Doctors vs Gun Owners:

Safety statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services.

  • The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
  • Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
  • Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171

Now think about this:

Gun Owners

Safety statistics courtesy of FBI.

  • The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. (Yes, that’s 80 million)
  • The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
  • The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is .0000188

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT Almost everyone has at least one doctor. This means you are over 9,000 times more likely to be killed by a doctor as by a gun owner!!! Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!

Finally, a positive outlook on gun ownership. This should be posted on the front page of every newspaper in the United States. Thanks

So what you’re saying is its over 9000?!

  3. C-Man at 8:45 am

Statistically if you own a washing machine you are more likely to be in a car accident simply because if you own a washing machine you are more likely to be able to afford a car. This statistic though accurate is entirely irrelevant.

Why is this limited to only accidental deaths? Why no murders or suicides?

  4. Brian Russ at 1:59 pm

It’s not the accidental gun deaths that I worry about. I worry about a culture that says “Freedom Mean Owning a Gun” that’s not freedom. The saying should go, “Freedom is the opportunity to own a gun.

That statistic doesn’t show the rate of homicide and suicide where guns were implemented.

I am of the believe that you can be a responsible gun owner though, and those who go through gun safety training and licensing are MUCH more likely to be civil gun enthusiasts and not gun hording separatists. I personally am finding the time to get my Concealed Carry License. Which I think, as a citizen of my state, and the United States, is my duty as a gun owner.

If you want to own guns, you should get licensed and not attack doctors.

    1. Outdoors International at 4:07 pm

You took that as an attack on doctors?!!!…

  5. Cindi Wallace at 12:23 am

    Pay attention ya'll……

  6. Samuel Williams at 12:43 am

    Hah! Lets ban doctors then!

  9. Cory Glauner at 2:25 pm

  10. Cory Glauner at 2:25 pm

So here's a good one for ya… Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Who woulda thunk it?

  11. Interesting…

  12. Becca Braun at 4:34 pm

Anyone who has gone to a doctor, and owns a gun, thunk it!

  13. Justin Sparks at 5:07 am

    I knew it!

  14. Tony Perkins at 9:51 am

  16. Hannah Jacobson at 8:35 pm

Does anyone realize that doctors work with people who are already dying? I mean, of course their death rate is higher than accidental gun shots, it's their job to prevent death.

  17. Jeremy Scott Payne at 1:54 am

Hence the reason I self-treat, and carry.

  18. Max Good at 12:44 am

    key word: accidental.

  19. Thomas Muir at 4:06 am

they call it practicing for a reason.

  20. Patti Dengerud Huro at 3:18 am

Thought this was funny. Please read.

  21. Pat Olson at 3:31 am

Now, you know that is a number that cannot be supported! Yes, there are "Drs" who have no right to preform thier profesion… The "true" Drs have to try to judge thier patient's physical condition. This is not an educated comparison at all!

  22. Pat Olson at 3:37 am

Maybe you should compare drunk drivers, and such?

  23. Derek Bagel at 5:25 pm

its the purposeful gun deaths that are the problem.

  24. Olyn Lee McKinney at 11:53 am

And just think, some of those who get shot also get treated by incompetent doctors. They don't stand a chance.
