Africa is one of my favorite places to hunt in the world.
One of the main things I love about hunting in Africa is the level of service that is standard practice. Every detail is taken care of. The food, the lodging, it’s all off the hook! South Africans are a very professional, attention to detail outfitting community. In many ways they put the rest of the outfitting world to shame. The only thing I don’t like about it is traveling there, but if you know the rules it is fairly painless.
I also very much enjoy the trackers, and “the help” around the lodge.
They all have such friendly hearts and always have a smile for you when you walk around the corner. I always take time when I’m anywhere to get to know people beyond just the small talk. The stories I get to hear in Africa are often some of my fondest memories. The people are amazing.
Africa is also a place of many faces in terms of terrain.
You can drive two hours and feel like you are in a whole new world. I highly suggest when you go there to have your time there to include some drives to other areas. You can include a lot of parameter activities while you are there to “see the sights.” I highly suggest the Garden Coast as one of my favorites.
Lastly is all the plants, bugs, and non game critters I see while I’m there.
It’s just so neat to be somewhere in nature that is so foreign and interesting. The PH’s in Africa are extremely well informed on all that as well. I’m sure I am a pain in their tail with all my questions but I’m always surprised how well they know their “stuff.” I say again, Africa is one of my most favorite places in the world, but the hunting is just part of why I enjoy it so much. If you haven’t been yet…ya, just gotta go!
