Locator calls earn their place in the early morning before a bird will commit to a hen call — a sharp hawk scream cuts through the woods and pulls a shock gobble out of a bird that won't give himself up any other way. Most hunters reach for the owl hooter out of habit; a hawk call does the same job and sometimes does it better.
