First-focal-plane scopes earn their keep when you're dialing for a shot at an unknown distance — the reticle subtensions stay true at any power, so your mil holds are right without doing math. Hunters who run FFP glass on a deer rifle and never shoot past 6x are paying for a feature they'll never use.
