Typical Hunting: A typical day hunting for Grizzly Bear consists of using snow machines to look for dens and glassing high slopes and valleys..
Your hides and skulls will be taken care of professionally, so you can take them home with you. Please keep in mind that your bear needs to be inspected by the Nome Fish and Game office before you leave. The Fish and Game office is not open on weekend. If you harvest your bear on a weekend you may need to change your return flight to the following Monday evening or Tuesday morning. If you need to make lodging arrangements in Nome check with the Aurora Inn & Suites, the Nome Nugget Inn or the Polaris Hotel.
Bear Hunting Season
Council Alaska Safaris guided Grizzly Bear hunts start on approximately April 15th. We have three 7-day hunts available each spring (April – May) and two 7-day hunts in the fall (August). There is a max of two hunters per hunt. Each hunt will be a max of 7 days, the first day of hunting starts the day we go to camp (hunting along the way) and ends on the 7th day on our way back to Nome.

1 Review on “Council Alaska Safaris”
Five star all the way! Just an awesome experience unlike anything I’ve done before and looking forward to a return trip in the near future. This was a Fall hunt and Ten days ain’t enough, there is so much to see and do I could spend months with Krist guiding me around. Grizzlys, wolves, reindeer, wolverine, moose, salmon/northern pike fishing, northern lights, gold panning and blue berries everywhere what more could you ask for! Krist …you made it seem more like hanging with your best buddy and made everything so comfortable I really enjoyed it! Seen a total of 9 bears and connected with a large beautiful blonde male which was just spectacular, THANKS so much Krist! To anyone reading this review just do it you won’t regret it. Lodging was great and relaxing as well. Many wouldn’t know but Nome is only accessible by boat or plane and lots of offgrid living, there is alot of rich history with the gold rush in the late 1800’s which you can see many of the old dredges still in tact. It was a great mind release from the daily stresses of modern life with cell phones, emails and such. Once and a life time experience for sure!
