  • Here’s your chance to take a GIANT Alaska-Yukon moose at a fraction of the price of a guided hunt.

    • A fly-in DIY moose hunt for trophy bulls!
    • Moose densities in this area are considered so high by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, that they are concerned with overpopulation and are allowing hunters to take ANY BULL the entire month of September!
    • Trophy bulls in 60’s are taken every year and success rates on 50″ – 65″ moose is 75%! If you have been looking for an affordable way to hunt huge Alaska moose, look no further. The price of this DIY hunt will astonish you.

This is a fun moose hunt and a great experience. It can be physically demanding and we recommend you allow yourself 10 full days of hunting to help insure you have an enough time to harvest a quality bull.

Success rates and trophy quality are both excellent on this DIY moose hunt in Alaska. The genetics in the area are excellent and so is the food source which makes for a healthy growing moose population. Any bull can be taken in this area of Alaska, however the average moose in his prime will be upper 50″ – mid 60″ range Success rates on the unguided Alaska moose hunts are around 75% with an opportunity rate of 90%-100% depending on the year. These numbers are amazing considering this is a DIY moose hunt.

The hunters who are successful get up before light, eat breakfast, and hunt hard all day. They eat lunch in the field, and return to camp after dark to eat diner. The day should consist of glassing and calling, while paying close attention to the wind direction. These areas are very conducive to calling and we recommend that you buy videos and learn to call before coming. This will go a long way toward the successful outcome of your trip. Keep in mind, packing a moose is very physically demanding and is not for the weak or physically disabled. Most of the areas are 30% – 50% black spruce with meadows and tundra ponds. Walking on the tundra is far more difficult than walking on flat firm ground.

Since this is a fly-in DIY moose hunt, you can either provide all of the gear and food (most hunters ship it up ahead of time), or the outfitter will rent you the equipment you need and sell you the food you will take.

Fully guided Alaska moose hunts are also available with this outfitter, but they are booked out far in advance. If you are in decent shape, you should really consider a DIY moose hunt. You can’t beat the price on these unguided Alaska moose hunts! Physical condition is the Key…be in good shape.

All the moose rut sign was from previous years with an occasional freshly rubbed tree this season. Rut activity started to pick up around the 15th. I shot my bull on the 18th. I saw a total of 16 moose, only two mature bulls. I felt we were probably at least one week early.

It was a fantastic hunt! I never thought I would ever be able to do an affordable moose hunt. They were very helpful in getting us into a good spot. We got dropped of in a pretty wet spot and were able to fly in and move us to a little dryer location. Once they did I couldn’t believe the moose we were hearing. It was pretty much all day we would hear bulls grunting around us!

What an experience. Everything happened the way it was supposed to. My goals for this hunt were to have a safe, memorable father, son adventure and get both my dad and I decent bulls. We also booked extra days for this hunt which saved us. We killed our bulls on the fourth and twelfth day of the hunt. Had we not book a couple extra days dad would have came home without a bull.

A great hunt, but the outfitter seemed just a bit unorganized… probably due to the bad weather they were having a hard time getting hunters out of the field. The hunt was amazing though.

The hunt was absolutely amazing. There were four of us in camp, my son Andrew, plus my two great friends Fred and Nathaniel and myself. It was our first time ever moose hunting in Alaska. We shot four bulls in five days. A 40″-42″-50″-56″. Russ Meyer did a great job booking and getting us info on our dos and dont’s. The outfitter and his staff were very accommodating and helpful. Our pilots Nate and Chett were the best. I would definitely do this hunt again and will in near future.

The outfitters and staff were all very helpful and friendly. They were always willing to go the extra mile to make sure our experience was enjoyable and successful. The hunting area was amazing, and we had several opportunities to fill our moose tags. After having a few missed opportunities with my bow, I was still able to grab the rifle and get it done in the last couple days so I didn’t go home empty-handed. All and all, I had an amazing experience with memories that will last a lifetime, and I couldn’t be happier. All the other hunters I met at the outfitters had success as well and seemed to have equal enjoyable experiences. I have never been on a hunt anywhere, for any species, that had such high success rates. I can’t wait to go back!

Got to experience a true wilderness adventure and got a nice moose.

Brother in law shot his moose and the first day that we could hunt. We spent that day and the next butchering his moose and getting it ready for the pilot to fly in and pick up. I had an entire week to hunt. Saw several moose and ended up shooting a nice bull on day 9. Flew out the next day. We saw a wolf and I missed an easy shot at it. Buy wolf and bear tags . We did not see a bear, however, we did see a lot of bear sign.

The Outfitters’ guys were all very helpful and extremely courteous, very hard working people. The meat cutting area was much appreciated.

This year was our first experience with this outfitter and they did a great job for our party. During our layover in Bethel we meet several clients that had been out with them for multiple times already and were coming back again because the hunting is good and he and crew do a good job.

Calling, learn how to call moose, watch the videos, calling is key. We called in our moose using a combination of cow calling and raking alot of brush. We used the Bull Magnet Moose Call, worked great. We took a moose decoy, we set it up several times but didn’t have it setup for any of the moose we shot, probably not necessary.

This was an Un-guided hunt so I put my guide, as myself was great! and my field prep was great because I did it. Moose density was plentiful and the memories will last a lifetime. The Outfitter is a professional, he does what it takes to get the job done and handles all the things necessary to insure you have a great hunting experience, just wanted to throw a big Thank You to him and to Russ Meyer from Outdoors International for all his help from the start, to the end of this Moose Hunt. I shot my Bull at 20 yds with a Bow,we stared at each other for 25 mins before I got him to offer me a shot, just be patient and let things unfold. The brush was thick and close encounters were the norm, not the exception.

In Alaska things can change quickly, be prepared for the unexpected… in reference to weather and the hunting conditions. Moose are very large, and this hunt is very physically demanding, so prepare in the offseason to prepare yourself.

Overall, I could write for hours and hours about our 12 days hunting moose in Alaska through Outdoors International and this outfitter. This is just a short summary of what happened between my dad and I, and believe me, we could carry of for a while. My recommendation to anyone interested if you’re looking for a cost effective, DIY, Moose hunt, these are the companies you’ll want to connect with to put it together for you or your group. I’ve never been more appreciative of using two great companies and the knowledge they share to put together this hunt for my dad and I. Thanks for everything!

The moose hunting was slow, maybe due to late rut. I shot my bull the day after we were suppose to be picked up from camp. Pack out was easy no doubt.

As I sit and stare at the palms of my moose euro that sit on my wall, I can’t help but relive the experience. The antlers are an awesome memento of hunt but the experience we lived and the challenge we conquered was what we really took from Alaska. It’s an unbelievable place filled with unbelievable animals and they will never be forgotten.

This DIY Alaska moose hunt was everything I had hoped for. We were dropped off with a well equipped camp in a great area. We were in the moose the entire time and were able to harvest two good bulls with our bows. I was already making plans to return before the float plane picked us up. Highly recommend this trip for experienced and physically fit hunters.

I’m happy to be a positive reference for this hunt. My recommendation to anyone is that leave your spotting scope at home and plan on wearing hip boots all day everyday. There isn’t any reason to even bring regular hunting boots. Don’t plan on trees. This is not a beautiful area of Alaska, but has good moose. The biggest frustration a hunter has is not being able to see very far… We could have shot one bull with a bow, however this lake hunt isn’t a great archery hunt. I think its better suited for a rifle hunt. We stopped at a couple of different camps on the way back and they were much the same. Flat, and surrounded by alder thickets.
