This Outfitter offers two types of Dall sheep hunting. One is a trophy hunt in the Chugach Mountains draw area, but if you don’t want to wait out the draw & want to get your ram NOW, then we can arrange a quality over-the-counter dall sheep hunt in the Alaska Range. This sheep hunt, like most is spot and stalk. Expect to cover lots of miles on foot and do a bunch of glassing to find the ram you are looking for.
The Chugach Mountains Dall sheep hunt will give you the chance for a trophy, mature ram that breaks the 40″ mark. The rams in the Alaska Range Base Camp Hunt are not slouches and average 36″-39″. Success rates are high for both hunts. Being in adequate shape is often the difference in your success.
This is an awesome area in the Western Alaska Range that is on an exclusive concession conducted on native lands. I think it is the only Sheep hunt on the planet where a guy can hunt sheep & return to warm cabins & hot meals nightly without ever sleeping on the ground!
Our Advice is Free
I have always heard this is a shooters hunt, this couldn’t be more true. The shortest shooting distance on our hunt was 206 yards, with the longest being 440 yards. That being said, we did have some great opportunities that could have been successful with a bow.
Just a little more than an hour into the hunt, I took a great 32 1/2″ ram after a short stalk with little cover and a 325 yard shot. Hit well, the ram ran about 40 yards and went down. What a way to start the hunt!
Food and Lodging

You won’t be eating Mountain House on this Dall sheep hunt. Expect warm, home-style meals at base camp.
Most hunters fly to Valdez, Alaska where the outfitter will pick you up. Then you will drive a remote cabin in an exclusive guide area. Competing hunter pressure is not a problem.
