Hunt Description

Located in Hosmer, South Dakota, this farm consists of thousands of private acres of cropland, tree rows, wetland sloughs and plush grasslands. The land is farmed for agricultural purposes, but the habitat is managed to attract wild pheasant, hungarian partridge and sharptail grouse. Pheasants are obviously the main attraction here in South Dakota, however, sharptail grouse, hungarian partridge, ducks, geese and whitetail deer call the state home.

This is a pheasant hunting paradise that continues to get better and better as their habitat matures and expands. With literally thousands of acres to hunt, and unbelievable numbers of wild pheasants, we are confident you will have a great pheasant hunting trip and see more wild birds than you’ve every seen anywhere else. This Outfitter offers fully guided pheasant hunts for wild South Dakota pheasants only. There are no preserve or hatchery-raised pheasants on their properties. South Dakota pheasant hunting at it’s finest!

Itinerary

Mornings start at the local diner for breakfast, and from there you’ll go pheasant hunting. A guide will assist you with his well trained hunting dog(s). If you don’t have our limit of pheasants by noon, they’ll have a sack lunch in the field and hunt until you’re done.

Once you’re finished hunting, you’ll head back to town to lounge for the evening while your guide cleans, packages and freezes your birds for you. You are welcome to sit in the hot tub, watch movies, have some drinks… just relax and have a good time. Dinner will again be at the local diner where you will enjoy the home town atmosphere. After dinner you are welcome to come back to the main house or retire for the evening.

Hunting Season

South Dakota pheasant hunting season begins on the third Saturday of October yearly and runs through the end of December. During the first week of the South Dakota pheasant hunting season, hunting begins at 12 noon central time. After the first week, and for the remainder of the South Dakota pheasant hunting season, hunting begins at 10am. These scheduled hunting start times are monitored by the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department.

Lodging & Accomodations

Lodging is included in your hunting package. You will stay in their farmhouse two miles outside of town (The farmhouse is small, but it’s clean. Nothing fancy). At the main house in town, you’ll have access to the bar, pool table, big screen tv and hot tub. They strive to make you feel right at home.
