- Aoudad Season is During the Rut
Due to the lay of the land this ranch hunts like it’s 60,000 acres and would be almost impossible to see all of it in one week of hunting here.
This ranch takes very few Texas Mule Deer hunters annually to ensure high success rates and trophy potential, so contact us for a West Texas Mule Deer hunting trip that is second to none.” ~Mike White
We also offer a Management Hunt
A management deer is determined by the guide, but in general, any mature deer with three points or less on at least one side or an extremely shallow tined rack. High scoring typical or non typical deer are the target genetics for the trophy deer. Guide has final say. Here are some examples of management bucks that have been taken on the ranch:
Hunt during the rut! The Texas mule deer hunting season is five weeks long and starts the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This ranch is part of the Managed Land Deer Permit program which lengthens the season because of increased management practices.
This is a spot and stalk hunt. At an elevation of 5,000 feet, this ranch has some rough country, but glassing spots are fairly accessible by ATV’s. On a typical day you will start glassing hunting areas once there is enough light, this could be from camp. Travel in Polaris or Mule to hunting area, and glass all the mountain sides, trying to catch them moving. Return back to camp around noon for lunch and a rest in the heat of the day, go back out in early afternoon and glass till dark.
You can expect to see 170-class or better desert mule deer on this hunt. They are also introducing a heavy protein, mineral feed program.
Javelina are everywhere, and for a small trophy fee each you can shoot two. You can also add an Aoudad for an additional trophy fee. See information on our West Texas free-range aoudad hunts.
License and Tags
Mule deer hunting license and tags are available over the counter. If you choose to add an aoudad, all you need is an additional exotic license which is only $48.
