Saskatchewan Black Bear Hunting Additional Details
Spring: May – June
From tree stands over bait.
Trophy Quality and Success Rates
They average 95% bear hunting success rate and 100% shooting opportunity over bait. Hunters have a reasonable chance at bears with 19-21″ skulls and a wide range of color phase bears including blonde, black, brown, and cinnamon.
Pistols are illegal in Canada! Bringing a firearm into Canada is a simple matter of a form and a CDN. Fill out the form in its entirety before you leave, but don’t sign it. You will sign it in the presence of a Canadian Customs Official. Bows/Crossbows are no problem and no paperwork is required.
They usually run 20-30 bait locations out several weeks before the seasons begin, and will be sure to place you over a bait that has been active. Using ATVs and Argos, they will drive you near your stand or blind in the early afternoon and pick you up around dusk.
