Re: Support H.R. 3036, the No Child Left Inside Act

Dear Representative:
On behalf of Sportsmens organizations, we urge you to vote YES on H.R. 3036, the No Child Left Inside Act, which will provide significant new support and funding for environmental education in the nations public K-12 schools. As life-long hunters, anglers and conservation advocates, we are greatly concerned about the growing disconnect between children and nature.

Today’s children spend half as much time outside as kids did just 20 years ago and, on average, spend six and a half hours every day lugged into electronic media. Fewer children know the joys of hunting, fishing, and even simply playing outside. As a result, hunting and fishing licenses across the country have plummeted, creating a crisis for state natural resources budgets.

    I don’t believe what I’m reading here!!!!!!!!!!!

    Let me get this straight………. You guys want the Federal and state governments to teach your kids and grand kids about the joys of hunting and fishing? You want THEM to teach your kids about sportsmanship and tell your kids the “character building” stories around the campfire at night?

    I haven’t read H.R. 3036,but by reading the first paragraph in this letter I’m amazed. disconnect between children and nature……….half as much time outside……..six and half hours plugged in……….know the joys of hunting and fishing…….need to engage this generation……..

    Get off YOUR dead asses and get YOUR kids out there and do YOUR job. If YOU pass this bill Al Gore will do the job for you. Take a page out of Cory and Colettis’ book and take your kids fishing with some close friends. Please don’t leave it up to Al Gore. I wonder who taught Sarah Palin how to hunt and fish?

    Wasn’t it the Feds that brought those damned wolves back to us? Wasn’t it the Feds that wanted to bring the grizzlies back to Idaho? Isn’t it the Feds that are pushing “man made global warming”?

    Has anyone asked Ted Nugent what he thinks of this shit?

    I read through the list of groups that support this bill and wasn’t surprised to to see the National Wildlife Federation and the Sierra Club.
