Nebraska turkey hunting on private farms
Our shotgun Merriam turkey hunts are at a 95% success rate in the spring during the last two weeks in April and first two in May.
Late April and Early May are the best times to hunt, as they have seen that their successes come in at higher rates during that time frame.
During a fully guided hunt, guides will take the hunters out to spot and stalk, call, or utilize ground blinds. This obviously all depends on the scenario played out in the field for what tactic will be used to be successful.
You will hunt seven miles of contiguous Niobrara River frontage. Throughout this seven mile stretch of property, massive flocks of turkeys roam in flock numbers in upwards of the 200 birds per flock. Earlier in the season these birds are winter flocked and clients can see the actually high density numbers of toms.
These Nebraska turkey hunts are at a 95% success rate in the Spring during the last two weeks in April and first two in May. Archery hunts have been consistent at 69% success. You can expect a reasonable opportunity at a 20-30 lb. tom with 3/4″-1 1/4″ spurs and a 6-8″ beard.
If you are looking for a true Merriam’s turkey hunt, this is one the best as most hunts are for hybrids.
Clients can fly into Chadron Nebraska regional airport where we can do a pickup free of charge (40 minute travel time to ranch) or fly into Rapid City, SD where we will do an airport pickup and drop off for $250 round trip. (group rate)
All Nebraska big game and small game licenses and habitat stamps can be purchased at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission website. We will be more than happy to assist you with permit information if need be.
The lodges are warm, comfortable, and filled with the amenities you would expect; warm bedding, great kitchens, and an inviting atmosphere to retell the stories of the days hunt. These lodges are provided exclusively for hunting clients and guides.
Meals are all home style / home cooked. Menus will vary from week to week. Snacks, water, soda pop provided.
