WOW! I’ve hunted pheasants for over forty years from Minnesota, to Colorado in some good area’s where the numbers were fairly strong. I have never seen the number of wild birds as I’ve seen in southwestern North Dakota. It was mind boggling.
The first day of the hunt we hit the field at about noon, within the first 30 minutes we had a flock of at least 150 birds fly up. We were so astounded nobody fired, we had never seen that many at one time. The guide had done a perfect job. He posted two of our guy’s at the end of the field and four of us with two confused dogs walked the field. Needless to say within that two and one half hour walk we had all filled for the day.

North Dakota Pheasant Hunting
Every day we saw tremendous numbers of birds. The small town environment was definitely relaxing, the accommodations are very homey and comfortable. The hometown cafe and steak house had excellent food, and the people were gracious. There was always a variety of wildlife to see, from pheasants, to beautiful whitetail deer, turkey, quail, prairie dogs, etc.
This is definitely an area and a bunch of guy’s I will hunt with more regularly.
