A blonde color phase black bear in Idaho
Last spring, one of our Outfitter Partners put trail cameras on their bear baits. They had six baits out and there were cameras on all six. It was kind of like Christmas every day because they would upload the new pictures every morning. It was a lot of fun watching the different bears.
We tried to take a conservative count of the different bears that they had hitting their baits. Here are the numbers that We came up with:
- 81% of the total number of bears are color phase!
- Chocolate: 57%
- Black: 19% *most have chocolate shoulders. Very few true black bears.
- Blonde: 14%
- Red and Cinnamon: 11%
