2012 Deer Season Report
As we are finishing our Illinois deer hunting season with just three days to go, lets take a glance of how our 2012 season went. We started off with the opening Illinois Archery season October 1 with a hot and dry week that followed the drought summer that hit most of the U.S. Although it was above normal temps, clients still were able to get close encounters with 130 to 170 class bucks in the evening over our clover/alfalfa food plots. As we approached pre-rut in the end of October, Illinois monster bucks were on their feet trolling for that first matriarch doe that was ready to accept. We had four clients who passed on 130 to 140 class bucks, because they had their eyes on a much bigger targets. We had dialed our stands into locations that had them within 75 yards of three 160 to 170 class bucks and one that was pushing 190. Two other clients arrowed two awesome bucks that scored 142 & 147 respectively.
Going into the beginning of November, the chasing had begun. We were strapped in and geared for the rut. Clients had numerous encounters with chase after chase with several bucks harvested . The largest buck was just shy of boone & crockett.
Going into the beginning of November, the chasing had begun. We were strapped in and geared for the rut. Clients had numerous encounters with chase after chase with several bucks harvested . The largest buck was just shy of boone & crockett. We did have a buck that was arrowed and was approximately 180 inches that was not found after an extensive search. Hopefully he is still on his feet and recovering. As we approached the first Illinois firearm season, the Illinois rut peaked and was really exciting to watch. Countless bucks fighting for that spot to be the chosen one. We are now into the December/January late season archery hunting. This is an amazing time. Watching 30 to 60 deer come into a field to feed, as winter approaches so quickly. It is late January and we are focusing on archery hunting the numerous food plots that we have planted. Clients are encountering countless bucks at a time. In one instance, we have verifying video footage of 43 deer in a plot. Out of the 43 deer there were 22 bucks, of which 6 were 140 to mid 160′s.
Now we are starting to see a few bucks that have shed their heavy Illinois racks. Now we are shifting gears as we are ready to start searching for the antlers that the bucks have left behind. We were very blessed & pleased with our Illinois 2012 deer season. All of our clients who traveled to Illinois to hunt with us were very happy and look forward to returning. We are always grateful for the opportunity to pursue our passion. Hunting the ever most popular Illinois Trophy Whitetail Deer. Come see us and pursue your passion.
