Fishing Trip Description

Santiago del Estero has one of the greatest lake in South America located in Termas de Rio Hondo near the capital (Termas de Rio Hondo, is a tourist city, with a great thermal center and spa, one of the largest in South America). This 33.000 hectare lake is famous in the area because of the Dorado (salminus moscillosus) that calls it home. The Dorado is considerated one of the meanest fish in the world, hence it’s nickname “Tiger of the Water”. This fish is sometimes confused with the Saltwater Dorado, but they are different species. The Dorado in this lake weigh between 6 and 40 lbs.

The fishing begins early in the morning and you will fish until late in the afternoon. Fisherman can choose to flyfish, bait fish or troll. All methods are effective. Also, you can exchange one day of fishing for dove or duck hunting. This is a great combo adventure.

Seasons

Fishing begins in June, however it really picks up around September.
