Elk hunting in Colorado on private ground. Archery and rifle hunts are available.
Fully guided elk hunts on 20,000 acres of private ground and about 40,000 acres of BLM permits. Physically, this is not a demanding elk hunt, but be prepared to walk 1-3 miles a day. They do a lot of spot and stalk on mostly unpressured elk.
- Rifle Elk Hunts: This hunt is offered in all four rifle seasons. These seasons run from the first part of October through the end of November.
- Archery Elk Hunts: One most exciting times of the year. Get in close and personal with the elk while they are rutting.
- Late season cow elk hunts are also available.
The success rate and shot opportunity are really good. Archery hunts range from 30% to 60% on a harvest. Rifle hunt success is 70%. both archery and rifle shot opportunities hover around 80%.”
You can expect 240″ 6×6 bulls and up. As you can see in the photos below, there’s the chance to take a real stomper on this hunt.

Fly into Grand Junction Colorado airport and the outfitter will pick you up free of charge or you can rent a car and drive to camp if you wish.
License and Tags:
Rifle elk tags are guaranteed, over-the-counter for the 2nd and 3rd seasons, but the 1st and 4th seasons are by draw only. Archery elk tags are over-the-counter.
Combo with Mule Deer:
There is a combo hunt with the rifles elk hunts only during 2nd and 3rd seasons. This outfitter also offers a great mule deer hunt.
Lodging and Accommodations:
They have two lodging options, one is an apartment and one is a 3,200 square foot lodge. Both have warm showers, and good beds. You will be served three home-cooked meals daily (sometimes, depending on the situation you may eat lunch out in the field).
