Hunting Season
Safari season typically runs from April to September.
Hunting Method
Although many times buffalo are spotted from the vehicle, the typical hunting method for cape buffalo is finding fresh sign from the roads and following the buffalo tracks on foot.
Although buffalo are not normally aggressive, when wounded, they become one of the world’s most dangerous game animals. They are one of the only animals that purposefully circle back on their own trail to “hunt the hunter.” The sheer menace and presence of these bad-tempered Dagga Boys make for an exciting hunt and a well-deserved trophy.
Success Rates and Trophy Quality
This outfitter has a 100% success rate on cape buffalo, and his trophy quality is hard to beat. Many bulls taken with have a spread exceeding 40 inches, while other hunters have taken bulls between 45-47 inches wide.
Botswana cape buffalo hunting is the most underrated in all of Africa. In our concessions, herds of over 500 are seen daily with trophy bulls having an average horn over 40 inches. However, many 45-47 inch bulls are taken as well.”
