Idaho Wilderness Elk Hunt

Hunt Description
Fly into the largest designated wilderness area in the lower 48 states for an eight-day combo elk, mule deer, bear and mountain lion hunt. It’s an either sex elk hunt, but they consistently take mature 5 and 6 point bulls, and they should still be bugling! The mule deer are heavy horned and you need to be disciplined to wait for the trophy you want. Bears are common and they get big ones every year. Mountain lions can be tough on this type of hunt, but we have taken a few on past hunts. This is the land of no cell phones, fax, ATV’s or cars. Be prepared to leave work behind and have the time of your life. Elk tags for this hunt are guaranteed over the counter.
Most bull elk harvested are 5×5 and 6×6 bulls and success on guided elk hunts runs 75% average year to year, opportunity is 95%, drop camp hunts run 25% success on bull elk. Depending on where and how you choose to hunt, your Idaho elk hunting experience could vary from a lodge elk hunt to a complete pack-in elk hunt up to fifteen miles from the trailhead. Elk hunting is by horseback and on foot. Elevations in Idaho can range anywhere from 3500′ to 9500′. Elk camps consist of wall tents, cook tent, shower and delicious meals. Guides are experienced elk hunters and know the areas well.
*Just as a side note, your non-resident Idaho mule deer tag can be used to tag a black bear, mountain lion OR a mule deer.

Average Rating For This Hunt
“Good hunt and you’ll see lots of elk. The mule deer are coming down out of the high country and they see some big bucks here. We saw quite a few black bears too. This is wild country at it’s best.”
