Outfitter Report: 2008 South Dakota Pheasant Hunts a Success

The 2008 South Dakota pheasant season was an interesting one. Our Featured Outfitter recently sent us some of their pics from the season so far as well as some information.

The report is that there are tons of birds, but conditions have been fairly tough. Most of the corn is still standing due to high moisture content giving the birds lots of hiding places, plus the weather has not cooperated. It has been cold and windy most days. There have been wind gusts up to 60 mph… that makes for hard bird hunting. IF the dogs can smell the birds and IF the birds hold for you, you better shoot before those roosters get in that wind, ’cause they get movin’ fast. Still, they have limited out most days even though they’ve had to work harder than normal.

Even with the tough conditions, South Dakota is still THE place to hunt wild pheasants. The following pictures speak for themselves. We hunted with them again this season and we saw literally HUNDREDS of birds every day. It’s incredible!

We are already booking for next season. If your are interested, learn more about our pheasant hunts in South Dakota.
